DELIVERING FOR HEATHMONT WITH INDOOR SPORTS STADIUM

12 October 2019

Sport enthusiasts, players and spectators have a new stadium in Heathmont thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

From netball to volleyball, players can now get their sporting fix under the one roof at the brand-new multi-sports stadium complex, Maroondah Nets at Heathmont’s HE Parker Reserve.

Member for Bayswater Jackson Taylor today joined the celebrations in officially opening the new four court multi- sport indoor stadium, made possible with $3 million in funding from the Labor Government’s Better Indoor Stadiums Fund.

Indoor multi-sport stadiums are at the heart of our suburbs and towns, and a hive of activity for more than 450,000 Victorians that play indoor sports like volleyball, table tennis, netball and badminton.

The new multi-sport stadium comes complete with grandstand seating for over 300, a kiosk, change facilities, a Changing Places facility, officials and first aid rooms, sport association offices and three multi-purpose rooms.

This provides the perfect base for the 16 clubs from the Melbourne East Netball Association, Croydon and Districts Volleyball Association, and a new home for the Yarra Ariels and other sports to build on local programs and showcase their activities.

Four new outdoor netball courts were also unveiled which provide even more space for training, with spectator viewing areas for competition.

Together the new indoor and outdoor facilities are expected to more than double participation hours at the venue from 290,592 to 635,579 in the first year.

The project was funded in partnership with the Federal Government and the Maroondah City Council.
